IC Information
Character Name: Conner Kent (Superboy)
Character Canon: Young Justice
Character Age/Gender: A year old in reality, sixteen years old physically and legally. Male.
Canon Point: During Young Justice, Season 1, directly after episode 22 - "Agendas"
Character Canon History:
From "Early Life" to November 2010.

Character Personality:
Conner Kent is a clone created from the DNA of two monoliths - a genius captain of industry and the world's greatest superhero. Their shadows loom above him, shaping him, especially that of Superman.

Project Kr was designed to create a being that would be able to defeat Superman and more than that - replace him. This mission was planted deep inside Conner's mind by his keepers and became his desire. Thus, Conner has a fascination with the man whose DNA spawned him that both draws him and repulses him. More than anything, he wants to know what it is to be the man of steel and to be acknowledged by him. At the same time, he resents him for his perceived apathy toward him. His feelings toward Superman are extremely complex, to the point where Conner himself doesn't understand them and what he doesn't understand, he turns into anger.

The resentment and negativity he feels toward his "father" and upbringing has manifested itself in his extremely short temper. Conner is easily and often angered. Combined with his arrogance and obstinacy, that makes for an impulsive and unpredictable fellow. While he generally follows directions and can work in a team, he's been known to jump the gun and smash his way to a solution - especially while under the influence of Shields. He's not unintelligent, having been psychically fed information during his time in the tube, but he tends to resort to brawn before brains in battle. He is simply fiercely independent; this is likely due to his being treated as nothing more than a tool and being forced into obedience during his "childhood". That said, he has shown to be able to strategize effectively and lead when necessary. As he's said before - "there's a time to go in strong and a time to go in smart."

Vulnerability, both physical and emotional, are anathema to Conner. Receiving even so much as a scratch bothers him greatly and reminds him all too much of his half-human DNA and the fact that he is not actually Superman. He has a difficult time sharing his feelings, even with the people he's closest with. Through M'gann and Black Canary, he's grown in this area a bit, but he's still uncomfortable with admitting weakness of any kind.
Having only been out in the outside world for a short while, he's not the best of communicators in general. His social skills leave much to be desired. It's not exactly his intention, but Conner can seem stand-offish and rude. His sentences are terse and succinct, he's very often tactless and sarcastic, and his sense of humor is dry as a bone. He tries, though. He's the type to stand off in the corner of a party, petting the dog and observing, but at least he's at the party in the first place, even if he's awkward.

First and foremost, Conner Kent is a hero. Not just a superhero - a hero. Like all members of the team, he puts civilian lives first. He will sacrifice himself for the greater good and will fight at all costs to keep his friends safe. For all his bluster, he is essentially a good kid; he's just a little confused.

Character Abilities:
Here.

Character Inventory:
Shields - Stickers in the shape of the Superman "shield" symbol kept in a protective case. When applied, they suppress the human half of his DNA and allow him to use the full arsenal of Kryptonian powers. Like nicotine patches, they must be adhered directly to the skin to be effective and only work temporarily - in this case, an hour. Unfortunately, they cloud his mind and cause him to lose control of his anger. He currently has about ten of them.

Samples:
M'gann's voice was a thin buzz behind him, hardly more intelligible than the static playing from the television. For having super hearing, he wasn't hearing much. It wasn't unpleasant, her ranting; more just the elevator music to his thoughts.

The uplift of her voice indicated a question.

"No."

The black-and-white fuzz on the screen, they called it snow. Conner supposed that was accurate. He had never actually seen or felt snow before, not in person. More and more, he was disassociating himself from the memories, sensations, and definitions that the genomes had implanted within his mind. Memories of things that had never happened were not truly memories. Fantasies and dreams, more like. He swore that the feel of sunlight on his skin was warmer in reality. The sting of asphalt and concrete against his back and arms - no pain he'd endured in the genome's imagination had compared to that. And definitions. Definitions were malleable and so many things were subjective.

Like betrayal. Hurt. Family. Beauty.

Conner - Superboy - still had a very loose grasp on what it was to feel, so he clung to the emotions he understood best. The first thing he had ever felt of his own volition was anger. Then came adrenaline and pride, followed quickly by hope and resentment. Negative emotions, as Conner understood them, but comforting in their familiarity. Especially the resentment.

He was in control of his own destiny now. He had free will. It left him more confused than pleased and since confusion was well...confusing, it was much easier to translate into a language he knew better - bitterness. It wasn't as if he ever wanted to be in anyone's thrall again and he would fight to the death to avoid it, but he had to admit, it did offer a sense of security. It would be easier if someone were to guide him through the mire of autonomy. If someone were to even acknowledge him, just a little bit. If someone didn't reject him, even if he was a part of that very someone.

That someone owed him nothing and yet owed him everything. And he owed that someone his very existence. Didn't that warrant something from someone?

Another question. He answered "no" again before fully processing what she said. One thing he had learned since his "birth" was that talking wasn't necessarily communication and that actions spoke louder than words. Another thing was that brooding too long made him cranky and other people uncomfortable. He stood and walked toward the kitchen.
